   _{❛  not any that YOU’RE thinking of.  ❜ rolling his eyes, steve fights the blush that threatens to stain his pale cheeks.  no, he isn’t a prude, but he also isn’t really comfortable about talking about things like this. besides– adult films weren’t exactly his area of expertise. steve stands, heading over towards the stack of movies. while he could just ask jarvis to play something random, he prefers the old fashioned way.} 

   _{after glancing through the stack, he notices one movie standing out from the rest.  ❛  it won’t be a party without the princess & the frog, you know.  ❜ he might be teasing or he might be dead serious. he’s always found the art in animated films to be something to marvel at. he, himself, always took the more realistic way of drawing, but he’d appreciate things when he saw them.} 

   _{besides, after tanya’s little outburst, they might need something a little more innocent, or who knows where the night will lead to. why hadn’t he went to stay at sam’s instead?}

          _{“ &&   what   kind   of   movie   do   you   THINK   i’m   thinking   of ??   i   just   want   to   be   sure   you’re   not   going   to   force   me   to   watch   something   black   &&   white . ”   of   course ,   that   was   a   lie .   or   rather ,   not   so   much   a   lie   as   it   is   a   slight   stretching   of   the   truth .   it   was   actually   both   what   HE   was   thinking   &&   what   she   had   said .   a   double   standard   question .   “ but ,   you   know .   fifty   shades   of   gray   is   still   a   great   movie … ”   she   adds ,   a   shit   eating   grin   plastered   across   her   face .}

          _{she   rolls   her   eyes ,   watching   steve   move   from   his   spot   to   hunt   through   the   piles   of   movies   that   the   starks   have   on   hand .   she’s   almost   tempted   to   remind   him   that   jarvis   has   practically   any   movie   he   might   think   of ,   but   she’s   aware   that   he   already   KNOWS   that   &&   is   electing   to   ignore   it .   (  not   that   she   would   complain   much   with   is   old   fashioned   ways .   after   all ,   she   has   a   great   view   of   his   ass   from   this   angle .  )}

          _{“ i   love   that   movie . ”   she   points   out ,   “ it’s   one   of   my   favorites . ”   &&   at   least   that   much   was   true .   the   princess   &&   the   frog   was   one   of   few   disney   movies   that   she   appreciates   little   girls   watching .   adults   too .   tiana   was   a   perfect   role   model   to   everyone .}

        _{with his serious demeanor resurfacing, steve frowns. he really has high hopes that tanya is joking around about this. she has to be, right? there isn’t any way steve is letting his face get make up on it. not with camera phones still being a thing. & not with how he knows tanya would take advantage of that.    ❛  i’m not feelin’ real burlesque right now, tany. maybe some other time?  ❜}  

   _{there would be no other time, that’s for damn sure. sitting down once more, steve leans against the bottom of the couch, legs all stretched out. moments like this, he’s glad he’s not sitting on wood floor. he figures they’re going to be here a while.    ❛  but i won’t object to a movie or two.  ❜}

        _{yes. a distraction. this might just spare him for the night. he puts on that innocent face that has most of america thinking he’s a saint. hell– most of the globe, maybe. television & media went a long ways.   ❛  or we could always  arm wrestle.  ❜ which might prove bad to tanya, but steve would be just fine. unless she broke out the suit; then things might be just a little more challenging.} 

_{“ fine .   whatever   you   say ,   steve .   but   i’m   holding   you   to   that ,   you   know .   one   of   these   days ,   i’ll   get   you   prettied   up   real   nice .   that   is   a   promise . ”   and   even   though   her   tone   is   playful ,   there   is   a   hint   of   seriousness   hidden   among   it   all .   oh   yes ,   steve   was   right   to   be   afraid   for   his   face ,   and   the   amount   of   space   she   currently   has   on   her   cellphone   for   photographs .   she   was   serious   about   the   whole   thing .}   

_{she   finishes   putting   the   rest   of   the   board   game   back   into   it’s   box ,   setting   it   down   to   the   side   once   done .   she   would   put   that   away   later .   turning   back   to   steve ,   tanya   wrinkles   her   nose   slightly .   she   didn’t   quite   fancy   an   arm   wrestle .   risky   overall ,   with   a   high   chance   of   her   losing   and   steve   reclaiming   some   of   that   lost   glory   from   candyland .   she   kinda   wants   to   go   to   bed   with   her   winning   streak   intact   tonight .} 

_{“ it   depends …   what   kind   of   ‘ movie ’   do   you   have   in   mind ?? ”   and   really ,   she   could   - should -   make   some   joke   about   ‘ netflix   and   chill ’   but   decides   against   it .   she   doesn’t   know   if   he   would   get   that   reference .   and   if   he   doesn’t ??   she   really   wouldn’t   want   to   go   into   explaining   it .}

     _{steve scoffs, a quiet & fond sound that he makes sometimes. slowly, while tanya is looking at him, steve moves all of the pieces and cards off of the board. well, now who knows what went where. it looks like they’d have no choice but to do something different. or start over.  candy land was a dumb game anyway; all that mattered was who went first & who got the better cards.  steve folds up the board & stands, having been sitting cross legged for too long now.}

   _{he’s teasing of course. this isn’t the first time he’s lost to tanya stark. wouldn’t be the last either more than likely. steve is a master tactician, but with things this simple, it’s… difficult to get his grasp on. it’s just so pointless.}

        _{his   swipe   at   the   board   had   gone   &&   jumbled   everything   up ,   her   little   red   playing   piece   now   lay   toppled   over   on   top   of   a   card   after   the   fatal   attack   from   steve .   tanya   pouted ,   picking   up   the   little   figure ,   turning   it   over   in   her   hand   before   casting   a   half - assed   glare   up   at   him   as   he   began   to   fold   &&   tidy   the   board   away .   (  the   only   thing   saving   him   from   a   pair   of   full   blown   dagger   eyes   was   how   childish   he   was   currently   being .  )}

         _{but   now   tanya’s   facade   breaks   &&   the   corners   of   her   mouth   turned   up   in   amusement ,   a   small   smile   creeping   across   her   features .   she   rolls   her   eyes ,   standing   herself   &&   beginning   to   gather   up   the   cards   that   lay   in   a   muddled   pile .   she   supposes   that   she   could   make   the   effort   to   change   it   up .   for   steve’s   sake .}

    _{“ i   could   paint   your   nails ?? ”   she   says ,   a   coy   grin   playing   at   lips .   “ or   maybe   even   your   make - up .   i   bet   you   would   really   pull   off   a   bold   red   lip ,   steve . ”}

   _{candy land is a classic, & so is steve in a way. but that doesn’t mean they’ll get along. tanya has beaten him at every round so far. only because she makes it across the rainbow bridge while i get stuck in the mucky licorice, he tells himself. he’s got to save his pride somehow, right? steve k n o w s he’s about to loose yet another round when he glances down at his card. he doesn’t even bother to move his figure across the small board.}

          _{matte   nude   painted   lips   pull   back   into   a   cheeky   grin   as   the   younger   stark   looks   up   from   the   board   to   to   look   the   other   in   the   eyes .   there   was   no   denying   that   she   enjoyed   winning .   but   she   HADN’T   been   expecting   have   a   winning   streak   like   the   one   currently .   to   put   it   simply ,   steve   rogers   royally   sucked   at   board   games .   and   she   could   live   with   that   revelation .   after   all ,   it   was   definitely   amusing   to   watch   him   struggle   painfully   over   every   loss .}
